Stronger America Through Seafood (SATS) Adds
Wilbur-Ellis as its Newest Member in Support of Essential Aquaculture

Washington, D.C. – May 3, 2021 – Stronger America Through Seafood (SATS), an industry coalition that advocates for increasing Americans’ access to healthful, sustainable and affordable U.S. seafood, announced the addition of its newest member, Wilbur-Ellis.

Margaret Henderson, Campaign Manager of Stronger America Through Seafood, said, “SATS welcomes Wilbur-Ellis as a valued member of our coalition. Wilbur-Ellis’ expertise in feed production and fish farming will bring a unique perspective as SATS advocates for the expansion of sustainable American aquaculture. Aquaculture is essential to the seafood industry and American economy. Growth of this emerging industry would benefit communities and industries nationwide, but first federal action must be taken to facilitate offshore aquaculture.”  

Wilbur-Ellis’ Nutrition division brings nearly a century of experience providing innovative solutions and value-added ingredients for the livestock, pet food, aquaculture and food industries in North America and Asia. In 2019, Wilbur-Ellis Nutrition significantly expanded its presence in aquaculture with the acquisition of Rangen, a 90-plus year-old aquaculture and general feed company with production facilities in Buhl, Idaho, and Angleton, Texas.

“Wilbur-Ellis’ aquaculture business includes the production of high-quality feed for fish – including trout and shrimp – which helps to meet growing consumer demand for healthy, nutritious foods that are high in protein,” said Andrew Loder, President of Wilbur-Ellis Nutrition. “Aquaculture also is environmentally sustainable, since feed is converted to fish production far more efficiently than other species, significantly reducing the resources required,” he added.
